Healthcare Assistant


Job Description

  • Assisting the service users with dressing and undressing, preparing the service user for Day Care or trips out.
  • Assisting the service users with washing, bathing, showering, shaving, grooming, cleaning teeth etc.
  • Assisting the service users with hair care (washing / brushing).
  • Assisting the service users with toileting and all aspects of personal hygiene.
  • Assisting the service users with continence management.
  • Assisting the service users to manage their pressure sores (under appropriate nursing supervision).
  • Assisting service user to with Colostomy management under the supervision of a Qualified Healthcare Professional.
  • Assisting service users with Artificial Feeding (Peg Feeding) under the supervision of a Qualified Healthcare Professional.
  • Assisting and/or supporting the service users to manage the diabetes needs as prescribed by their GP and under the supervision of a District Nurse.
  • Assisting service user to with their End of Live (Palliative Care) needs under the supervision of a District Nurse.
  • Assisting the service users with getting in and out of bed.
  • Assisting with the use of Aids to Daily Living / Rehabilitation Aids, as required.
  • Helping with rehabilitation programmes, as prescribed by Qualified Healthcare Professional.
  • Day / evening / night sitting services, as required.
  • Assisting the service user to take prescribed medication.
  • Assisting the service users with Dietary Care such as preparation of snacks and meals according to the service user’s likes / dislikes) and assisting with feeding, as required.
  • Assisting the service users with domestic and household Chores such as general cleaning duties, to include cleaning dusting, vacuuming, polishing, bed-making, clearing refuse and rubbish, Laundering, Handwashing, Ironing, Light needlework, as required,
  • Assisting the service users with the preparation of shopping lists and assistance with budgeting.
  • Assisting the service users with light gardening tasks (subject to previous agreement at the Care Plan stage).



Requirements:

  1. A Satisfactory DBS Check or a Clean DBS Certificate is essential
  2. Ability to speak in English language is essential (You would be required to communicate adequately with the service users as an important aspect of the role)
  3. Ability to write in English is essential (As you would be required to records every support provided to the service users in the daily care notes)
  4. 6 months to 12 months experience in delivering personal care or in a related environment.
  5. (Care Certificate is desirable but not essential) as Care Certificate Training will be delivered as part of the induction program.
  6. (NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care or Working towards an NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care or its equivalent) is desirable but not essential as support will be offered to undertake NVQ training Course after induction
